Hello, I am Mr Dicky Wong from Malaysia. My wife is holding Guangdong Hu Kuo. What will be the necessary documents I need to get and submit for my kid application for a China residence permit?

We have registered our marriage in Malaysia. My kid just born in Malaysia last month and holding a Malaysia passport. And now I would like to get my kid to stay longer time with his mother in China, I think my kid is qualify to apply Residence permit. What will be the necessary documents I need to get and submit for my kid application ? For your information, my kid is still in Malaysia now and I am willing to bring him back to China next month, please help advise urgently, thanks.

You may need to register your marriage in Guangdong first to legalize your marriage status with a Chinese lady. Then, your child can apply for a family visit visa to enter China. The said residence permit can be processed at Guangdong PSB after entry. Documents needed are as follows:
1. original passport and copy of personal information page;
2. Visa Application Form of China (Form V2011A) affixed with one recent passport photo;
3. Notarized Kinship Certificate, such as the birth certificate.

Dicky Wong, you need to make the marriage certificate and birth certificate authenticated by Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry, then authenticated by China embassy in KL or China consulate in Kuching.

After entering Guangzhou, your wife needs to go to the local police station which covers her Hukou residence (户口所在地的派出所) to change the status of marriage.

Then she can go to the Exit-Entry Administrative Bureau of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau to apply for residence permit for kid. The authenticated marriage license and birth certificate, her Hukou, ID card are required.
