Hong Kong is so far from Beijing and Xian (where the soilders are located). You'd better take a flight to reach one of them first. If you want to save money, you can enter Shenzhen from Hong Kong first, which is very convenient by Hong Kong MTR, then take a flight from Shenzhen to Beijing or Xian.
You can travel between Beijing and Xian by train, about 15-16 hours. It will be much cheaper.
