Typhoon season, expecting to visit Taiwan for the first 2 weeks of August?!

A couple of us are expecting to visit Taiwan for the first 2 weeks of August. We will be staying primarily in Taipei, but want to visit Kenting and its famous beaches as well. Is it advisable to go, given that it is typhoon season? Heard that the beaches will be closed, is that true? We dont want to make a trip all the way down south for nothing! Also, please recommend itinerary around taiwan for a 2 week trip! Thanks :)

It is hot and rainy during that time, Additionally, it is the active typhoon season in Taiwan. If you decide to visit Taiwan, you need to prepare well for the bad weather before ging there. There seems no official news about the close of the beaches. 2 weeks are too long to visit Taiwan. You may look at the following itinerary for Taiwan trip as a reference:
Day 1: Arrive early on Friday. Explore Taipei. Visit Taipei 101 at dusk and then to Shilin Night Market.
Day 2: Book either a day trip to Taroko Gorge or get a train to Hualien. Return to Taipei that night.
Day 3: Day trip to Sun Moon Lake. Return to Taipei that night.
Day 4: A trip to either Keelung, Jiufen or Danshui and return to Taipei in the late afternoon or evening to explore some more.
You can spend the left days visiting other cities in Taiwan.
