Can I renew my student resident permit and stay in China for two more months as tourist?

Hi! i have a resident permit just for 4 months, as student. This visa is going to expire on july 22. I am not going to continue in the school, i just want to renew my visa for one or two months, to travel around china.
Is it possible???
And, if i am renewing my visa, could i take domestic flights?
