Yes, they are real. We know from some history books, and the most famous one is the Records of the Three Kingdom, regarded as the official and authoritative historical text on the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history covering the years 189-280 CE. Before this book, there were the Wu Book, Wei Book, etc. Shu didn't have special orgnization to record history, so, the history about Shu was collected later.1
