China Tourist visas for Americans in Rome

Could you please tell me - if I am an American citizen currently in Rome, what do I need for an application for a tourist visa in China? How much does it cost, what is the processing time (I would like it done in five business days if possible), and do I need to show onward tickets? If I have a one way ticket to China and then a one way ticket to Japan from China, will that be acceptable? Thank you!

You should provide the original and a copy of your permanent residence or work permit in Rome which should be valid for at least half a year (except for those who enjoy visa or permit exemption for residing or working in Italy). Otherwise, you need to apply in your home country, or you can do it in Hong Kong.
BTW, as an individual traveler, you are required to provide return ticket or hotel order in china.

Fee is €151.00 under regular service (4 working days). Your ticket to Japan is ok.
