how safe is travel in changsha , china

I will be making a trip to changsha , china an I would like to know how safe it is for an american to travel an are there anything I should be aware of or any dangers that need to be looked out for . My parents are very worried about me making this trip an any information to help ease there minds would be greatly apreciated an would ease my mind also . I have never traveled to china an really concern about the saftey factor to make my trip as enjoyable as possible

I can definitely tell you its very safe in changsha, i have been living for more than 20 years, just one thing you need to be aware, watch you bag when you are walking on the street especially crowded street and train station. that it, no need to worry about life saftey. china is a very safe country. people there are normally very nice to foreigners.
