can i spend the nite near the great wall so i can hike all day on the wall

To avoid big crowds, I suggest you go to Mutianyu Great Wall because I found it is crowded in Badaling all the time except cold winter. If you won't go other parts of the wall from Mutianyu, I suggest you just stay in the city center and just go to the wall in early morning.
