Can I get a two months visa to travel in China ?

My wife and I, Canadian passport holders are planning to visit China in October for 2 months, sighting seeing and visiting friends in Beijing, Nanjing and Zhongxiang, Hubei Province. Can we get visas to travel and stay in China for 2 months ? Do we need invitation letters from our friends to get a 2 months visa ? We both have been granted single and multiple entry visa to visit China in the last 5 years.
Thank you.

You can apply for a single entry tourist visa to China, generally with 30 days duration. This visa can be extended twice at local PSB in China with 30 days each. No invitation letter from your friend is needed. Anyway, you can write down your 2 months request to the application form, provided with travel itinerary, round trip tickets and possibly hotel reservations in China. Visa officers will take them into consideration and issue visas according to your condition. In addition, your previous multiple entry China visa is helpful for your application this time.
