asking about transit visa for china

hello i'm a u s citizens i have 4 hours transit in one of china air port going to thailand do i need a visa for transit ...........thanks

If you transit Shanghai, you can leave the airport to visit Shanghai without a visa. if you transit other cities, you don't need a visa for transit if you stay at the airport.
