Thank you for your reply Mr. Johnnash. Would we qualify for a residence permit even though we'd be visiting as tourists in the country? Neither of us have lived there or plan to live there, we are just looking for a destination wedding in China. That being said, is it still possible?

If you both have China residence permit, it is possible for you to make registration through Canadian embassy/consulates in China.

You can't make marriage registration in China if you are just tourists in China. You can get married in Canada, then hold a wedding in China or spend your honeymoon in China.
