About:Chinese Consulate in New York

Hi,
I am a US citizen and was born in Hong Kong in the 1950's. I am presently applying for a China visa and want to know what do I put as my former nationality? The women at the China consultant said to put Mainland China. Is this correct? Hong Kong was a British colony at the time I born.

Thanks!

Do you have British Overseas Passport? As I know, if you were born in Hong Kong in the 1950's, you would be issued British Overseas Passport, which is your former nationality.

Officer at the consulate is correct; however, the questions asks for the Province/Country so for the province please enter the village name, and enter China as the country. Do not write Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and alike special administrative region names in you application it will result in rejection of your request.
