About:China Work Visa

Hi,
I am an Australian senior executive who has worked in & out of China in the past on a Business Visa; my partner has just accepted a Senior Role with a FOE in BJ & I am to join her as a spouse mid year. I plan on converting my amature Chinglish to proficient Mandarin via an Immersion Mandarin Course & then pursue employment either as a 'Consultant' or an Employee of an FOE. My partner will be provided with a Z Visa & I guess I qualify for that also as a 'spouse'?
Is this so, and if not, what need I Visa do in need/ qualify for , and what do i need to do?

If you have an immediate relative who is working in China, then, you are eligible to apply for a Z visa as a dependant to stay in China. If not, you can only apply for an L visa or F visa.
