Good day,I am hoping to visit the Great wall at the begining of Year 2012. I have about 21 days to visit China for the wall and the Chinese New Year.Will Simatai be open by then, I have considered walking as much as I can from Jinshanling to Simatai, but I want to see more. I was also hoping on staying with local people along the wall, and was wondering about staying at villages living the Chinese lifestyle. How possible is it?RegardsK

No official news about the re-opening of the Simatai Great Wall. It will take 3-4 hours from JInshanling to Simatai on foot. so I think you have to do some excises every day from now on to make preparation for that. if you plan to stay at farmhouse, Hua Lou Gou Village at the foot of Jinshanling is recommended.
