About:China Transit Visa

I will fly to Hong Kong from NewYork via Pudong airport. My arrival time at Shanghai is 7:00pm and my connection flight is 7:00am next morning to Hong Kong . Do I need the visa if I want to stay in the hotel outside the airport?

You don't need a visa for staying in the hotel outside the airport. Canadian paspsort holders enjoy 48 hours visa free period for transit in Shanghai (going out of the airport is allowed)
