About:Dress Code in China

I will be traveling to China on buisness but working in a production setting, is it ok to wear blue jeans and t-shirts or would slacks and dress shirts more fitting?

If just for products exploration in China, I think Jeans and T-shirts are ok, but if you will take part in any conference, something formal like suit and shirts will be better.
