You can apply China tourist visa from Chinese embassy/consulate in NZ, and you should provide valid NZ visa or entry permit on your passport. Other requirements are as follows:
1. Visa Application Form (Form V2011A) and Visa Application Form (Form V2011B)
2. One recent passport sized color photo;
3. Original passport valid for over 6 months with 2 blank visa pages;
4. Travel itinerary prepared by travel agency, copy of return ticket (e-ticket), invitation letter from relatives or friends in China including the inviters' personal details and contact information.
