About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Dear Sir/Madam
My husband and I live in Adelaide, Australia. We are planning to go to Hong Kong and then Shanghai in May as tourists. I have a few questions about the visa application.

1. When we fill out the application, do we include information about Hong Kong? For example, we arrive in Hong Kong on 20 May and then go to Shanghai on 25 May. In answer to question 2.3 Date of your first entry, do we put 20 May (Hong Kong) or 25 May (Shanghai)?
2. Question 2.8 asks for the name of "your inviter or contact unit in China". We are travelling independently. What should we put here?
3. Once we complete the forms, I understand that we can post them, our passports and our passport photos, in order to obtain our visas. Where do we post them to? Do we need to include a stamped, addressed envelope so they can be returned to us?

Thank you very much for your assistance.

1. You put 25 May Shanghai as your first entry on the visa application form
2. you can put N/A on the Question 2.8
3. you should post your application to China embassy in Canberra, you need to include A pre-paid, self-addressed return envelope so they can be returned to you. EXPRESS MAIL, REGISTERED MAIL or DHL, TNT is acceptable.

Howevr, the embassy strongly recommends that you apply for visa in person (by yourself or someone else, namely your friends, relatives or travel agents) due to the long processing time and the likely risks of documents' safety if you send the application by mail.
