About:China Visa Application in USA

We live in Portland, Oregon, and are planning a trip to China as tourists starting in Beijing, on May 16, 2011. Our return to the US is currently booked for June 19, 2011, so the duration of our trip is tentatively 35 days, but possibly more. Is there any problem asking for more than 30 days without leaving China at all? Also, our trip is rather open as far as itinerary, and we may even leave China once after 35 days and return, if we choose to extend the trip. What is the best type of visa to apply for, and which consulate or embassy should we use for the application. How much itinerary detail is required? I noticed there is a new application which asks for more detail, but is the old application still accepted for a while more?

You need go to Consulate General of China in San Francisco to apply for China tourist visa. The old application forms can be used till June 30, 2011. Now you can still fill the old form to submit it.

You'd better apply for a 1 year multiple entry visa with 60 days stay duration per entry. You can write the planned itinerary, stay duration, entry date, exit date on the visa application, the final decision is up to visa officer.
