What was eduction like with traditional chinese culture?

In ancient times, the rich people usually invited a knowledged person to their home to teach the kids, while the poor who can afforded the tuition fee sent their kids to the rich's to be educated and those who couldn't pay for the fee were not able to be educated.

education was a rare thing in anciant chinese socity.This is because the children in ancient china were not sent to schools.
