About:Chinese Embassy in UAE

I'm a British Citizen, currently living in Dubai, but would like to visit China for vacation. How long will a visa application take, and should I make an appointment at the Embassy for the application?

you can apply in Dubai, UAE resident visa valid for more than 6 months is required (Excluding non-GCC applicants); No appointment is necessary for visa applications. And it normally takes 4 working days to process the visa.
