I need help! 2 senior will be traveling to Beijing from tianjin in May. Where to buy the train ticket while we are in The city. Do you have to buy the train ticket in advance? Any suggestion?  Thanks!

Usually, you have no need to buy the tickets in advance. Well, in the early May since it will be the holiday in China, you'd better buy the train tickets in advance to make sure a seat. You can buy the tickets at any train ticket oulets in the city or any train stations in the city.
