About:Chinese Embassy in South Africa

I am going to Hong Kong for 7 days. I would like to visit mainland China, and will not be sleeping over in Guangzhou, just a day trip.
Can I apply for a visa in Hong Kong, or do I need to apply for it in South Africa, before I leave?
Does Macau require a China visa as well?

You need to apply for a single-entry Tourist Visa to Guangzhou in South Africa. You don't need a visa to Macau because nationals of South Africa enjoy 30 days visa free access to Macau. You don't need a visa to Hong Kong, either.
