About:Traveling Cost in China

I will be travelling as 2 adults and 3 children. I speak basic mandarin, and spent considerable time in China ten years ago (so I will be able to eat locally and bargin hunt for basic accomadation). However in ten years, the cost of food, travel has all changed. What would my budget be to feed a family of 5 at the street markets, and what is the cost for cheaper hotel rooms (do I need to book 2 rooms). We are looking to spend a month travelling.

The budget may varies a lot in different cities of China. It may just cost about CNY100 for you 5 to have a meal in a street Market in Xian, but it may costs CNY200-300 in Beijing and Shanghai.
