hi, how much would be the cost of the ferry from HK to Macau? How about the cost of the ferry for children 5 years and 8 years old? We plan to go 1 day visit in Macau and will be back to HK at night.Is the ferry service 24 hours? Can you recommend the best few places we should visit in 1 day time?

It costs about HKD140 for an ordinary seat from Hk to Macau. There are night ferries between Hk and Macau. Since you have only one day in Macau, I think you may just visit the attractions around the New road such as ruins of st., senado square, a-ma temple, macau museum, and then take bus no. 26A to visit Venetian.
