About:Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

I will have one day in Chengdu before flying up to jiujaigou. What would you recommend that I do during my day in Chengdu? I would love to visit the Panda Breeding & Research Center. Is this easy to get to or would I need a guide to take me there?

It only takes bout CNY30 from downtown Chengdu to the Panda base, so I think you can just go by yourself if you won't visit other places in Chengdu.
