About:China Consulate in Houston

My mom's passport expired. We live in Orlndo Fl. What is the easiest way to renew her passport? She is 83 years old. She wants to travel to China this May,2011. Can we renew her passport without traveling to the Embassy in Houston? If not, what helpful information can be provided to ensure we have all necessary documents, forms, etc. if we must make the trip to Houston from Orlando to renew the passport.
Thank you very much
