About:First Time China

we are thinking about going to Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong mid March 2012, could you tell me what the weather is like and if I need warm clothes or can get away with just a sweater

Hi, do you mean March of 2011?
The average temperature of Beijing, Shanghai and Hongkong in March are 6C, 9C and 19C, so you'd better bring warm coat and sweater with you in Beijing and Shanghai and for HongKong sweater is ok for you.
