Beside your original passport, application form and photo, you need to provide invitation letter from your friend in China and his ID copy, hotel reservation and return ticket for visa application. it is better for you to prepare 3 months bank statements updated to the month you are going to apply for China visa, that should be proof to cover your expenses in China.
