I'm planning a trip to Hainan Island during 1 - 4 May. Is this period crowded in Hainan Island? Which hotel would you recommend in Haikou that is near town/ food?Thanks.

Would the shops and restaurants be open during public holidays?Is it logical to stay 2 nights in Haikou and 1 night in Sanya?I would like to walk around the city for nice food and enjoy the beach area as well.My budget is around 100 - 120 USD per room night.
