About:Kunming Weather

we plan to visit kunming, lijiang and dali end of july- august - tentative 29/7 to august 12, 2011.
is this a good month to visit the above mentioned cities? any flower blossom during that time? fruits? what's the weather like?

Weather in the three cities is similar. The average temperature is about 17~24C during that time. It is not cold not too hot, suitable for travelling. But, there are aboundant of rainfall during that time. You should prepare raincoat or umbrella before go there. A lot of flowers and fruits can be found during this period.

thanks for your prompt reply.
How about mid November - early December? Tentatively we plan to visit Kunming - Lijiang- Dali- Shangrila. Is it possible for us to travel on our own or should we take a local tour to get to those places?
is Mandarin ( bu tong hua) widely spoken in those places?
