About:Chinese Embassy in New Zealand

I plan on visiting China in June. I want to travel there for six weeks but I think standard tourist visas are for 30 days only. Is there any way of extending the time you are allowed in the country?

Generally, tourist visa can be extended twice in China at local PSB, don't worry. And you can fill your 6 weeks request to the application form when you submit your visa application to Chinese embassy, providing related itinerary.
