About:Entry Regulations of China

URGENT... My visa expired in October 2010. My husband was seriously injured while in Lanzhou 2 days ago and is being transported from Shanghai Monday evening to Hong Kong for emergency surgery Tuesday morning. All Consulate/Embassy offices are closed in the United States till Tuesday and I've made reservations to fly to Shanghai Tomorrow/Sunday.

With an invitation from my husband, the emergency declaration and the fact that we will be traveling to Hong Kong within 48 hours of arrival in Shanghai be enough to grant me entry? Once in Hong Kong I will re-new my visa.

If you stay at Shanghai less than 48 hours, that's okay, just fly in. If any think happen, there is visa office in Shanghai and you can explane your situation. For USA passport holder, less than 48 hours transfer with Shanghai for a connecting flight is allowed.
