About:Chinese Embassy in Indonesia

Hello, I am currently in Guangzhou on a double entry L tourist visa. I plan to stay for around 3 months here. I first entered China on February 1, 2011 and I still have about two weeks (till March 1) before I have to leave China. My question is, I heard that you can apply for an L visa extension without leaving China. Is this true? Most people suggest to just go to HK or Macau and come back, but what's the difference if I extend my L visa here? I was thinking if I can extend without leaving China, I can keep my second entry for future use. Or does the visa extension will replace my current double entry visa? Would really appreciate for any advice. Thank you.

Yes, you can extend your L visa at the Division of Exit & Enter Bureau of Public Security Bureau, but your present double-entry vsia will automatically expire, it is advisable to go to Hong Kong or Macau, then return to Guangzhou for another 30 days stay duration.
