About:Packing Tips for Traveling China

My daughter will be going to Laiocheng University for 8 weeks in May and June of this year. What is appropriate wear for the area in terms of modesty and climate. Would it be appropriate for her to take small gifts to her instructors? If so what would you suggest? Could she buy a camera there or would it be better to bring one? Can she purchase clothing there that would fit her? Can she buy western shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and other toiletries there or would it be better to mail her these items. Thank-you for your help,we are all very excited about her trip.

I think your daugther can buy everything she needs there according to the real weather, no need to mail to her. As for the gifts to the instructor, a popular gifts in USA is better.

Mr. Bobby,

I apologize for not understanding your answer about gifts for instructors. Would small gifts be apprpriate or good for instructors?

It doesn't matter whether the gift is small or big only if it can express your will.

Gifts are very much accepted in China...and its highly recommended to be sure they're made in USA, because although "Made in China" gifts are also accepted, they won't be near as valuable to the Chinese. They love family photo albums, and such. Small gifts are accepted, as well as recommended.
