I am visiting shenzhen in April and plan on buying a ps3, a phone and maybe an ipod. Will this be ok to bring back home to NZ with me?

Yes, you can bring back but I think Shenzhen is not a good place to buy those things. For Shenzhen is clothes to Hong Kong and you do not have visa to enter Hong Kong, I suggest you leave for NZ from Hong Kong after you buy those stuff there.
