About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

my partner(not married)has had a letter of invitation from the employer he is going to work for in Shanghai. He is travelling over on a business trip soon and will be going back there to work full time for the company who are also providing accommodation. What visa do i need to apply for to stay with my partner in Shanghai? I believe he has an F visa.

Tourist visa is the best option for you.

F visa? it is ok if he is going to work in China for less than 6 months. You can apply for a tourist visa since you are not married. The tourist visa is short in duration, 3 months one entry at most. But if you can provide document for relationship, I mean, the marriage certificate, you can apply for a work visa accompanying his work visa.
