About:Shopping in Guangzhou

Hi, can you tell me if the Zhongda market sells textile for retail / small quantity? or is there a better place to go to?

Zhongda market is a wholesale market. I think it is a good place for your to buy textiles.

You can usually buy small qty in Zhongda, but I must warn you that the market is really really huge. It's a whole neighborhood, with several plazas and sidestreets. It can take time to find exactly what you're looking for.
If you want to try a smaller market where retail is no problem, then you can try Highsun Fabric market. It's one mall with both tailors and fabric wholesellers and retailers. I find it quite convenient to go there with my retail clients.
