About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

As a German and planning to got o China for around a week, do I need to apply for a tourist visa first or can I go without and just with my passport to China?

Yes, you need to get a tourist visa before you leave for China from Chinese embassy or consulate in the country where you reside.
