I have got Chinese full scholarship for Ph.D in Beijing and also received the invitation letter, admission and visa application from the university and i have to report there in university before 30 March 2011. I m a married person and also having a daughter. I want to take them along with me. Is it possible to take them with me on my first visit to china, and how can i apply for visas of my family. Additionally which type of visa will be required for my family.

Thanks a lot Ms Miles. If i apply L visa for my family then what would be the duration of visa, i mean is it possible to get 6 months visa and after arrival in Beijing i apply for Residence permit form my family?

Mr.Suhaib Bin Farhan, you can first try to apply for Tourist Visa for family visit (L visa) for your wife and daughter. After entering Beijing, you can ask your university to help you to apply for Residence Permit for you and your family.

The duration of L visa is generally 30 days, you can apply for Residence Permit for your family and you within 30 days after entry. It is simple if you apply for residence permit together.
