About:Embassy & Consulates of Malaysia in China

hi,

my (malaysian) passport that contains my chinese work visa expires in april and i plan to visit KL on feb 10 to renew it.
i plan to return shanghai on feb 15, can i re-enter china showing my visa in my old passport?

or

is it easier if i get a new passport in hong kong? (i have a residency / hk id card there)? the vice consulate here told me i can get a new passport in a day there.

Yes, you can just bring your China visa on your old passport, it is ok. And as you were told, you can renew your passport in HK.
