About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Received your reply re needing a visa to visit Shanghai for a day aboard a cruise liner in March. I presented myself to the Chinese embassy in Canbera on(20th) Thursday morning with my application , photos the whole thing only to be told that I did not need a visa to go to Shanghai if I am not staying more than 48 hours. Which is the correct answer as I taveled for more than 6 hours on Thursday only to come home again with nothing and then to receive this e mail saying I need a visas. What is the correct answer?????

Mr.Warden, a visa is not required for Australian nationals who transit Shanghai for less than 48 hours.

I also read your posting on China embassy in Australia and know that you will on a Princess Cruise Line to China. In fact, you should aks your travel agency or cruise operator about the visa, they should know it well and give your correct answer because they should be responsible for their answer.
