About:China Business Visa

I have just finished studying in Beijing for a semester on an F visa, and my Chinese friend wants me to stay with his family for another 6 months.
What will be the procedure of extending my visa? What kind of visa will I need for my coming stay (I am not thinking about leaving China during those 6 months)

just extend your F visa , at this time mybe you can ask 6 month and with multi entries!

It expires next month.

Can I extend my F visa if I am just visiting a friend this time?

Yes, he is also in Beijing.
My last entry stamp is August 20 (does that mean my visa is valid until February 20?)

OK,the policy before the spring festival, you can extend you F visa before it expire, and ask for 6 months. but after the festival, i am not sure.
