About:China Customs Declaration

I'm seeing on a couple of webpages that you're not allowed to bring CNY into China in cash. Is this really true, or is this old news?

If I bring travellers cheques with me, can I get that money exchanged at the airport?

You can bring CNY into China in cash but not too much. I am not sure if you can exchange travelers cheque in the airport. To be safer, bring some USD cash and exchange in the airport. As I know travelers cheque exchange are only available in big branch of Bank of China. So, you have to exchange in those banks in the city center.
