About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

I have a z-visa and residence permit that expires in March 2011. I have left my employment early and they have just contacted me to say they are starting the cancellation process of my visa and that once it has been cancelled I will be charged 500RMB for each day of overstay. How long does it take to cancel a visa? Can they cancel the visa without having my passport? They have my expert's certificate and a photocopy of my passport. Thanks.

As what Nancy said above, you can stay in China until March 2011, that is the validity of your residence permit.

They can't cancel your visa without having your passport, but they can cancel your expert's certificate. You can stay in China untill March 2011, but you can't apply for extension of it.
