About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

i has just been granted a student visa in china ( i am currently in shanghai). I notice that we have to inform the police station and again informed the visa department if we move residential address. I just moved address, it is necessary to report? what are the consequences ? at the moment i have no plans to extend my student visa once the visa expired.

thank you

Yes, it is necessary to report the change of your address to the police station and apply for alteration on your residence permit, you don't need to inform the visa department. If you don't apply for alteration on your residence permit, you will have problems when you apply for visa extension or apply for a new visa once your present visa is lost.
