i got that emergency passport in guangzhou malaysian consolate and i had lost my passport in guangzhou too.. yes i have to go malaysia to apply for a new passport, valid for 5 years..i have applied for the exit visa and it is under process now..i will get it on monday..
my question is can i come back to china with a tourist visa and then apply in china for a student visa?

i need to show the lost passport's police report in malaysia to apply for a new passport. but here they have given the police report in chinese.i asked them to give in english but they denied to give in english. In Malaysia, they would ask for the police report either in english or malay. i asked for it in the malaysian consulate. they said that they cannot give such report or letter. so, can u suggest me how and where to get an english report?

Mr.Bala, did you get an emergency passport valid for 1 month from Malaysia or China? Where did you lost your passport, in Malaysia or Guangzhou? Do you mean you will go to Malaysia to apply for a new passport and a new China visa on your passport?

There is Malaysia Consulate-General in Guangzhou, you can go to the consulate to apply for a new passport, then asks for help from your college to provide documents to prove you study in the college till Sep 2011, and go to the local Exit & Enter Department in Guangzhou to apply for a new Student Visa.

You'd better apply for a student visa directly in Malaysia. Change visa types in China is difficult but possible anyway if you pay extra fee for visa agency. For the English police report, you may try to find a translater, and get it attested by your consulate in Guangzhou.
