About:China Visa Application in USA

I will be visiting China in July to teach a 2-week course at the Renmin University of China (RUC). I will be receiving monetary compensation for doing so. I also expect to spend 1-2 weeks traveling. What type of VISA do I need - Tourist (L), Business (F), or Work (Z)?

You need to apply for Business Visa (F) to China because you will teach 2 weeks course at Renmin University of China. But it is a little complex to apply for business visa. My advise is to apply for L visa, but please don't declare that you will teach 2 weeks course in RUC. It is easy for USA citizens to get a L visa to China with 30 days stay duration, you can refer to China Tour(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/package/) to plan your 1-2 weeks travelling in China.
