About:China Postal Service

Hi, I purchased a jacket through an agent located in China, and the item was posted through EMS on the Dec 28th, and I was given a EMS tracking number.
When I track the package online, it was first despatched from DONGGUAN and then GUANGZHOU on the 29th. And that is it. No more updates.

When I track the package on EMS in the Chinese site, instead of "despatch from GUANGZHOU", it actually say it is on its way to Vancouver, Canada, on the 29th.

Does anyone know how long does the delay for Christmas holiday usually take?
Is there an international hotline I can call? I can speak Chinese.
Or shall I contact the local post office (Canada post)?
Also, does it happen often that EMS packages get lost? How will I know it is lost?
