You can use the credit card to pay for the Hong Kong octopus card(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/hongkong/transportation/octopus-card.htm)  only at the airport. However, when there are many passengers waiting to buy the cards, it usually only accept cash, thus you'd better prepare some HKD cash. You canu pay for the ferry ticket by your credit card.
